Lamson Farm History

The Lamson Farm was the first farm in the north end of town. It passed through several generations of Lamsons, finally to be worked by William Lamson and his wife, Florence Brown Lamson. When he died in 1974, she moved in with her brother on the Francestown Turnpike. The house and some land were donated to the town. The rest of the land was purchased by the town with money partially from the Federal government to be used forever for recreation. The house and land are managed by a Lamson Farm Commission. Timber was harvested in the summer of 2008. Each year the hay is harvested and the fields manured by the Pomeroy family.

The town celebrates Lamson Farm Day each year on the last Saturday of September.
