Halloween is coming!

As always, town residents are welcome to don their costumes and come to Main Street on Halloween, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., for trick-or-treating! Don't miss this, the most spooktacular of the town's annual events.

Also as always, candy is being collected to help out the houses along Main Street deal with the hundreds of visitors they get on Halloween. Drop your donations off in boxes at the library, general store and Village School. The Recreation Department will be distributing the candy Sunday, October 23, from 2 to 4. Changes at the Transfer Station

Workers at the town Transfer Station have a new trailer to operate out of it. It order to accommodate it, some of the containers have been moved. The new trailer is located next to the open top container where glass and aluminum used to be located.

Library Listening Sessions

The Library Trustees invite Mont Vernon residents to drop in to the library to share questions,concerns, and feedback about the new library project on the following Saturdays from 10:00-12:00. New to town? Drop in to see the site plans and renderings to see the vision for a new library for the Town of Mont Vernon.

Hooks and Needles

Hoosk and Needles will be meeting the 2nd Friday of the month at the Mont Vernon Fire Department Community Room  from 12-2.  Bring you latest needlework project and join the group for as little or long as you have time for. New members welcome. Next meeting is on Friday, October 13th.

Cookbook Club

Do you love to cook?  Join us at for Cookbook Club this month at the library.  We'll be cooking from "Everyday Italian" by Gianda De Laurentiis.  Stop by for a copy of the cookbook and pick your recipe to ad to our potluck meal meeting on Tuesday, October 24th at 6:30pm.  New members welcome.

Storywalk

Miss JoAnn has updated the story at Carleton Pond! Take a stroll around the pond and read our latest picture book "Pick a Pumpkin " by Patricia Toht. Come check out all the wildlife around the pond while you enjoy the story. 

Trick or Treat @ the Library

The Friends of the Library will be passing out Halloween themed trinkets at the library on Halloween from 6-8pm. We can't wait to see your costumes!  See you on Main Street Halloween night!


Town Museum open

Last chance is coming up to visit the Mont Vernon Town Museum, on the second floor of town hall, before it shuts for the winter. (There's no heat up there!)

The museum will be open Saturday, October 21 from 1 to 4 p.m., and on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, also from 1 to 4.

Patriotic Purpose Veterans Day

The Mont Vernon Patriotic Purposes Committee will host their annual Veterans Day appreciation reception on November 11 at 1 pm in the Community Room at the Fire Department. Retired flags will be collected. Light refreshments and a short program will be offered. Open to Veterans, their family and friends, and the public to say thank you to our Veterans.
