Tree Lighting Chili Cook-Off Winner

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in this year’s Chili Cook-Off. The winner was Mrs. Rogers with her fabulous Beef & Bacon Chili; it beat out the rest by 16 votes! Have a safe and happy New Year, and we’ll see you soon!

New Hours at Town Clerk

Town Clerk hours are changing: Starting January 2, 2024 our new hours will be 

Monday and Thursday 9-1

Tuesday 2-7


NH Primary / Other Town Clerk News

The New Hampshire Primary is on January 23rd at the Mont Vernon Village School Multipurpose Room from 7am-7pm.

Absentee Ballots are in.

The Clerk's office is still looking for Ballot Clerks and counters; ff anyone would like to volunteer, please email Belinda at: byeaton@montvernonnh.us

Filing period for town offices in towns using non-partisan ballot system. Any candidate filing on last day must file in person. Clerks must be available between 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on last day of filing period. RSA 669:19; 652:20

Read More in 2024!
Reading is "in" for 2024. Start the new year with a library card and your first book of the year.  Drop in to sign up for the 2024 Book Challenge and pick up your free reading log.  Set your own goal and track your books all year.  Make sure your account is current to borrow books online from Hoopla and Libby digital streaming services.  We also have 4 adult book clubs you can join. Winter Lapsit & Storytime
It's time to sign up the kids for Winter Lapsit & Storytime! Miss JoAnn is offering 6 weeks of Lapsit for children ages 0-3 on Thursdays at 11:00am and 6 weeks of Storytime for children ages 3-5 on Thursdays at 1:00pm. Session starts Thursday, Jan. 11th. Registration required  due to limited space. Call (603)673-7888 to hold your spot today!

Cookbook Club
Pick up a copy of "The New England Soup Factory" by Marjorie Drunker and claim your recipe to bring to our potluck meal meeting on Tuesday, January 30th 6:30pm. The library will provide small bowls for sampling. BYO ladle. Questions? Call Bonnie at the library 673-7888.

Coffee & Books
The Friends of the Library invite you to enjoy a free cup of coffee or tea and a cookie every Tuesday at the library. Drop in for a good book and treat yourself! Thank you to the Friends and volunteer for sponsoring.

Hooks & Needles
Grab you needlework project and head to the MV Fire Dept Community Room for a monthly meeting of the Hooks & Needles group on Friday, Jan. 12th. The group meets the 2nd Friday of every month from 12-2pm. New members always welcome.

Community Conversations
The Daland Memorial Library will be hosting monthly conversations in 2024 to get the discussion started around important topics. Click on the link below for an anonymous survey about "Volunteering" to help frame questions for an in person/virtual discussion on Tuesday, January 23rd at 6:30pm. Join us in person or on Zoom to join the conversation each month. Zoom links will be posted closer to the day of the event. Look for additional surveys at the beginning of each month for each topic.

UPCOMING EVENTS/IMPORTANT DATES

· Monthly Meeting ~ Tuesday, December 9th at 7 pm, via zoom. Please email MontVernonRecration@gmail.com for the link. All are welcome! On the agenda will be the year in review and looking at the year ahead.

· Mont Vernon Ski/Ride Club ~ Slope Days at Crotched Mountain. Session #1 will start on Friday, January 12th at 4 pm. If you have registered your child(ren), please make sure you’ve turned in your google form and watch for emails with further instruction in early January.

· Morning Exercise Group - ongoing T/R/S mornings. (See details below).

EXERCISE GROUPS
Strength & Tone from Home: Tuesdays & Thursdays at 5:45 am via Zoom - 45-minute class of strength and conditioning workout led by personal trainer, Mary Rondeau.

Cardio & Toning in the Gym: Saturdays at 7:30 am in the Mont Vernon Village School gym - 45-minute cardio and toning workout led by fitness instructor, Mary Manseau.

These sessions are ongoing. If you are interested in trying a class - the first one is free! If you'd like to sign-up for a session, we offer 2x and 3x a week options. For more in-formation, contact Stephanie Vore Apple at Psapple@comcast.net.
